Our site hosts a number of events throughout the year, and the Shropshire County Show is the event that started them all!
Now nearly 150 years old the annual agricultural show takes place with the aim of bringing town and country together - and we love to see it unfold here on the West Mid Showground.
Plenty going on!
First, it’s all about the office…we have entry forms, signage, programmes, catering, exhibitors, traders, invites, badges, member correspondence, meetings, security, marquees, entertainment, planning….so much planning…
Then, the big set-up begins. You may know that our showground regularly floods, and we work extremely hard following each flood to make the areas as good as new for our events.
The Shropshire County Show uses almost the entire showground so every inch of it has to be polished up ready to welcome our livestock, horses, dogs and all of our two-legged guests as well!
Counting down the days
As the big day looms, the shopping tents come in - the Shopping and Taste of the Shires marquees were fully booked before the end of April this year, so they will be packed full of delights on show day for those guests that love a peruse.
We count down the days, and then the Shropshire Young Farmers arrive and set up their exhibits ready for judging - which takes place before the day, so they are ready to entertain you with their jelly racing and floats in the main ring on the 27th!
Our livestock will arrive looking incredible, ready for their Saturday morning judging, and exhibitors will set up their stands ready for the thousands of visitors to pour through the gates.
The showground will be filled with the wonderful sight of the heavy horses, the Pony Club will arrive, magicians and entertainers will be wandering the paths, our amazing youth zone will be spotted by its huge climbing wall, canoes will be out on the river, the Boldog Lings will be flying out of the arena, and the music of the bandstand will fill the air - WE CANNOT WAIT!
We would love you to join us! Online tickets are £16 for concessions and £18 for adults, children 15 and under are FREE, and tickets at the gate will be £20 for concessions and £22 for adults.
