Magical Christmas adventure brought to life at the showground
30 Nov 2022

Christmas is a magical time of year for children, particularly if there is something really special for them to get involved in. Well, this year the showground is hosting an amazing adventure on the run-up to Christmas and we are hoping as many children as possible will join in.

Author Emma Jones is bringing her book The Nutcracker and the Fairy - a Christmas Adventure to life with the help of her husband Oli right here at the showground starting this Friday, December 2nd, and then again on other dates through the month. It’s giving the showground a real festive feel - and we love it!

A winter wonderland

Emma and Oli, who run JOS Events, will be creating a magical interactive world that youngsters can take part in - a story based on the book but essentially a new story that follows the exciting journey of the characters after they meet.

It’s a new event for 2022 and while it is not a re-enactment of the book, it is a good idea to buy the book in order to familiarise children with the story and characters before attending the showground event.

Once at the showground, children will have the opportunity to meet Nutty and Twinkle Toes in a room full of giant objects, have a mince pie and sweets at Mrs Wigglebottom’s house and get to visit Candy Land, Nutcracker Land, the North Pole and see Santa in his workshop - where they will also get a gift.

Picture perfect

There will be Christmas tree ornament decorating with Mrs Claus and plenty of opportunities to take photographs. This amazing indoor adventure lasts about one hour but visitors can hang around for longer if they wish.

Emma said: "The story of the Nutcracker and the Fairy brings traditional characters into the home which can be touched and played with. Our plushies of Nutty and Twinkle Toes were made with this in mind.

“This Christmas tradition allows the children to imagine what Christmas adventures Nutty and Twinkle Toes are getting up to when they are asleep. It feeds their incredible brains and allows them to be a part of this tradition while simultaneously teaching them to be good as Nutty files a daily report to Santa.”
