Great venue, great event! The Showground gears up for the Shropshire County Show
24 Feb 2023

The West Mid Showground is gearing up to host the annual Shropshire County Show in May - and the tickets are now on sale!

It is the centrepiece of our year but it is worth remembering that the show, which attracts thousands of visitors each May, is only one of the events we host at our impressive 100-acre showground setting over the course of the year. We are also home to a great many tourists who choose the showground as a place to stay while visiting the area.

The showground is the ideal location for the Shropshire County Show. It is close to Shrewsbury town centre but far enough out to make it easily accessible and the size of the showground makes it the ideal choice for any type of event served by large parking areas.

Save the date

This year’s show takes place on Saturday, May 27 and there will be plenty to see and do from 10am when the town crier officially opens the event. Britain’s Got Talent stars the Bolddog Lings motorcycle display team, will be the big attraction while other main ring entertainment includes:

  • YFC Jelly Racing
  • Kipperridge Gun Dogs
  • Vintage Parade
  • Horses Champion & Reserve Champions
  • Wirral Pipe Band
  • YFC Floats

Plenty to see and do

For music lovers there are performances on the Village Green by Second Wind and Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir and there will be a wide variety of food and drink vendors on the showground throughout the day. There will also be a varied selection of trade stands to visit.

The grand parade will be a main attraction once again and there will be an extensive range of livestock classes which always generates lots of interest both in terms of entries and with the thousands of visitors.

For the whole family

Children can hunt out the special offerings along the 2023 theme of science and nature by using our showground map, and the Youth Zone offers a range of entertainment including: Juggling Jim, Magic Kev, Alison's Bee Class, Simon Airey, the Animal Man, and face painting.
