Who are we?

Shropshire & West Midlands Agricultural Society

The Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society was created in the late nineteenth century when its principal objective was the organisation of the Annual Agricultural Show. The Society has come a long way since those early days and today continues to oversee the maintenance and use of the County Showground for the purpose of staging not only the County Show, one of the oldest shows in the country but many other entertainment, cultural and fundraising events.

All profit from these events is used to ensure the continued good maintenance of roads, grounds, fences and buildings on our 58-acre showground and we expect to be able to make donations to our supported schemes such as the National Young Farmer’s organisation, Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, and to individuals who find themselves in financial or other difficulties or who need retraining, financial support and temporary help.

In 2016 the society embarked on a totally new venture acquiring, initially four charity shops throughout the north of the county for the purpose of raising additional funds to help the society realise its objectives.

Great location just an easy 15 minute walk into town. Own little garden with a shelter and fire pit. Washing and toilet block and pot wash point close by. Very friendly staff. Very peaceful, calm and relaxing even though it is a big site. We had a great stay.

Great having indoor area (with heater) and two outside options (no cover or under cover). Site was enormous so plenty of room for kids to kick a ball and run about. Good fun swimming, canoeing and fishing in the River Severn. Site very secure and staff all very helpful. Shrewsbury and the surrounding area is a great location with so much to see and do. We will be back.

We had a great camping weekend and thank you for the warm & helpful welcome when we arrived. Facilities were fine, nice powerful showers and ideally situated, being a peaceful site, but still close to the town. We will certainly be returning and have recommended the site to friends. "What a find" Thanks again!
